K is for Kiss

Kiss
kissing from here

Troy and I do not shy away from public displays of affection.  We try not to gross people out and I don't believe anyone has ever told us to "get a room".  It's not like we are making out in front of people, just quick pecks.  (Ok, sometimes there's more than one peck in a row) (Ok, sometimes they are long pecks, but we try to save those for when no one we know is around)

Do you remember your first kiss?  Not the kid your friends dared you to kiss on the playground in third grade, but your first real kiss?  Of course you remember, that's a big moment in life!  What about the first time you kissed the person you are with now?  Remember the butterflies, the giddiness, and the smile it left on your face?  Do you remember your first kiss as husband and wife?

Kissing is one way that we express love.  We teach children to kiss when they are young and we endure the open mouthed slobbering for months until they figure out the proper way to pucker their lips.  They understand that this new action we have taught them is for love and they go crazy kissing the dog, their toys, and whatever else babies love.  We show affection with our lips.

As we grow older it becomes less acceptable to kiss everyone (and everything) we want to show affection to and kisses are replaced by hugs, or even handshakes.  Kisses are saved for special relationships and therefor take on more meaning as an adult.

Who are the special people in your life that get kisses?

Troy wrote about KISS for his K word too!  Click here to see what he had to say.

  1. So very true! I'm not sure at what age kissing becomes taboo for some people. I never thought about that before - interesting thought. I'm so glad I found your blog. I'm stopping by from the A to Z challenge and I look forward to reading more from you.
